Class Descriptions

Restorative / Therapeutic Yoga

This class provides a rare treat in our fast-paced lives.  In restorative yoga, less is truly more.  The focus will be on doing fewer postures while receiving maximum benefit.  We will hold the posture by use of props which create comfort and support allowing the breath to deepen and tightly held muscles to release their grip.  This class will leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed!

Yoga for 50+

This class is tailored to the Baby Boomers and beyond! As we age, muscle stiffness, loss of joint mobility and balance can become problems. Years of hard work, intense exercise or too much sitting can all take its toll on our bodies.  Gentle, suitable forms of yoga can address all of these issues and help us maintain active lifestyles well into our later years. Not only that, but it can be a lot of fun too!  No previous yoga experience is necessary. We will utilize props that support us in our yoga postures.

Gentle Flow Yoga

This is a slower-paced flow class where yoga postures are linked together stretching and strengthening the whole body.  Some previous yoga experience is required; our Yoga 101 class or private lessons will teach you the correct form to help you get into the flow!

Mixed Level Yoga

This mixed-level class includes some flow sequences and intermediate postures. Prior yoga experience is helpful, but not required. The focus is on alignment, sequencing organic movement, stretch and flexibility. The pace is moderate to slow, sometimes holding asanas (postures) for several breaths, building endurance, and bringing physical and spiritual strength together. This class combines elements of many yoga disciplines bringing awareness, enthusiasm, humor and kindness to the mat. Each class ends in savasana with a time of deep relaxation. All classes are mixed-level, fun and challenging!

Yoga 101

This is a beginner class, no previous yoga experience is necessary.  Basic yoga postures are broken down into their essential elements. This class includes personal, hands-on adjustments to ensure correct form, alignment, and breathing. One of the biggest myths is that you have to be flexible to start yoga. This is not true, as everyone can start yoga at any point in their life and build flexibility over time.

Chair Yoga

This is a great overall body workout!  If you have limited mobility, this is the perfect class for you.  We will start with the feet and work up to the crown of the head.  Not only will we strengthen and lengthen your major muscle groups, but you will also increase your lung capacity through breathing exercises.  Other exercises will work to release tightness in the face and jaw, and strengthen the eyes.  You have everything to gain by taking this class!
